A Memorable trip

Last Friday, Peggy took me to Manistique, MI to visit the gravesite of Bob. It has been 13 months since he died and I had wanted to get there before the weather got bad and could not travel. We had beautiful weather and the heat did not bother us since the air conditioner was working very well. Stopped for lunch then went on to Iron MOuntain to tour the Dickinson Homes Village (5 homes on site). They are really so nice and well planned. Of course, changes can be made as you wish. They are very flexible. From there, on to Manistique (lost an hour on the way), checked in and then went for some pizza. Visited with Mrs. Hoholik and daughter, Molly, who lives in Milwaukee where she taught kindergarten. She told us she was inspired by Grace Gero, who was Bob's aunt. Saw them again on Saturday morning after a big breakfast at Sunny Shores, where Bob and I had many meals on our annual treks. The place is on Route 2 east of Manistique and quite close to Lake MIchigan.
The trip to the cemetery was quiet. I pulled some weeds that were near the gravemarker and made certain everything was the way it was supposed to be. A flag was flying from the upper corner to identify a veteran. All in all, it was a good visit. We left and drove around town a bit before leaving for Wisconsin. Came home a different way--along the Lake--and it was lovely. Lunched in Appleton and continued on home. It started to rain at that time, and it was such a good rain. We needed it!!!! Lawns were beginning to look so brown. I looked at the gauge when I got up on Sunday and there were 2 1/2 inches in it. Thank heaven for that rain.
Peggy was to return the rental car today on her way to work, so that should complete the trip. It was good to spend so much time with her.

Yup....got the car back at 7:32 a.m. Filled it up with gas before that in Madison where the price was $2.89/gal.

Peggy :)

PS - Glad you had fun, too.

That sucks....$2.69?? WOW...I'd love it to be $1.50 again, but I'm not sure that will happen.

Peggy :)
